Introduced in 2016, the man wearing turban emoji is identical to the original person wearing turban emoji. It is used to represent both Sikh and Muslim men, as well as their religion and culture more generally. It can also be used to reference Sultans (if they’re someone you talk about a lot!) or Genies (ditto!). Depending on the emoji platform used, the emoji can appear to be a young boy (Google), a man (Apple) or an old man (Samsung). His turban is usually white, but can also be orange or green. Many of the emojis also have facial hair, which in some versions can be modified, along with skin tone.
